Petition to Continue Zoom for Los Olivos Community Services District Committee (LOCSD) Meetings

Please consider this petition prepared by a longtime Los Olivos resident:

We, the residents and stakeholders of Los Olivos, call on the LOCSD Board of Directors to continue offering Zoom access to, and recordings of, all Committee Meetings.

Most voters working hours, when parents are busy with their kids, small business owners are serving customers, and employees are tied to their jobs. Very few of us can leave work to sit in a meeting room. Zoom has been the only way for many residents to listen, learn, and stay involved. Without it, we have no access to the actions taken by our local officials.

Eliminating Zoom doesn’t just make things inconvenient—it blindfolds and silences us.

The timing couldn’t be worse. Over the next year, Committee discussions will directly shape the Prop 218 vote, one of the most important and expensive decisions this community has ever faced, and it will affect every household in Los Olivos. Why make it harder for residents to take part right now, when transparency and community input are more important than ever?

Staff has claimed that Zoom access must be eliminated due to technology and scheduling conflicts. But opening a laptop, logging into Zoom, and clicking “record” cannot take more than 5 minutes. Additionally, the Board could schedule committee meetings back-to-back in the same room. The real question is: If there’s a simple solution, why take away access at all?

If the Board wants to build trust with the community, transparency isn’t just about checking a box—it’s about making sure your voters can actually see what’s going on and be included in the process. Keeping Zoom access is a simple step that shows respect for the people you were elected to serve.

Eliminating Zoom sends the wrong message. It says: only a small, privileged group gets information, while the rest of us are left in the dark. That’s not the Los Olivos we believe in.

Please sign this petition & share it with your neighbors today. Tell the LOCSD: Don’t shut us out. Keep Zoom access available, and Keep our community’s voice strong.
